I’ve been pondering a question, and i was wondering if somebody could enlighten me.
How can the porn industry possibly sustain itself?
I mean, there is just so much porn being made out there – surely there aren’t enough people paying for it? I mean, there are so many men and women making it, most of them not the well known likes of Jenna Jameson et al, and so many different formats; magazine, DVD, internet etc etc, i just don’t get it. How can the demand really be so high? And especially in the internet age. I mean, nobody has to pay for it anymore: you can get it free no problem. And why would you pay for it? After the five minutes you require, surely you’d just feel like a fool for having subscribed to some tacky website when you can get it all for free, or just use your imagination? So how can the people making it be turning a profit….but they evidently must be because otherwise there wouldnt be so much of it.
I just don’t get it; am I unusual in finding porn very boring (except for crucial said 5 minutes) and not worth paying for? Is the rest of the male population addicted to porn and needs a constant new supply for which they are willing to pay endless sums?
SOMEONE PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME!

There are many many men and women, with huge sex drives, but who are also fuck ugly and socially inept.
These people, care deeply about porn. They pay for it so that the quality is better, and so you get all the full scenes and storylines.
Also, it is very common for couples to use porn as a turn on. A paid for DVD is (i imagine) the best format for this.
Like you say, there are so many varieties in porn. Thats why there can be SO much of it and it still makes money. People like different things.
Its like music. You can get the vast majority of popular music for free now, so why pay? You pay for the better quality and the extras like artwork etc. (this is analagous to better video quality and full scenes.)
There is also SHITLOADS of music. But still, peoples tastes vary SHITLOADS, so there is a huge diverse market for music.
Thats the best I can come up with. Its still a little mind boggling though, i admit..

There’s a lot of stupid people in the world. These stupid people have more money than sense.
Incidentally, a chap at my college got called to the Dean for downloading too much porn. Must’ve been an awkward meeting.

I’m with Sagar on this. After “the crucial five minutes” (excellent phrase!) you’d just feel stupid for having paid!

Wasn’t the internet created by CERN solely for the distribution of Porn?
Anyhow, I don’t understand how, why, porn is still being made. I reckon if you’ve seen one you’ve seen ‘em all, the underlying proposition is the same. After the crucial five minutes you just fell cold and lonely anyway.
